Nyanza, Western Province, Rwanda - typical housing typologies and materials

Bamboo Harvested for sale - terracotta tile roof -wattle and daub wall
 terracotta tile roof - adobe clay earth blocks with some gravel and straw, timber windows and doors
Terracotta tile roof with minimal over hang perhaps 20 cm - adobe wall construction - cement render on left not right -  timber doors and windows - note rainwater  marks at the base of wall up approximately 40 cm


Terracotta tile roof - fired clay bricks at base of wall, with adobe wall construction on top with cement render - note windows and doors not in building under construction
typical shop front newly built without signs - concrete frame, fired blocks, metal doors and windows - perhaps islamic style arrangement with porch along front

under construction - new build suburban house - aprox 12m by 12 square plan - clay fired bricks - 1.5 cm cement mortar -timber roof structure - steep 40 degree pitched roof for good ventilation 


New build suburban house - steep 45 degree angle roof for good ventilation inside - clay fired bricks construction - corrugated metal hipped roof


New build suburban house - cement block, rendered cement, reinforced concrete structure - painted finish - metal and glass windows and doors
